Intriguing History Project, Scope Purpose & Approach

With the benefit of hindsight and pretty busy lives, it was perhaps complete madness to set-out to map British History, Timeline ii and connect it, as a process that would make sure we explored and hopefully learn’t something along the way. It certainly has fulfilled the latter if not the former. But it is a great fun project to work with as well. During the run-up to the end of this year (2014) after other priorities, like life dared to get in the way, we are moving forward again, wherever that may lead us with this project. Hopefully at that point we can at least provide some idea of the scope, purpose, direction and potential benefit to others. It already gets a lot of viewers so we are somewhat behind at the moment. But by Christmas 2014, we should be back on the road again!

We are actively posting and considering the triangle of IFH, IH and Hampshire History and if anything the connections, at least to us seem even more resonant than before with our interests. But will we still feel like that by the turn of this year. We do hope so. In the interim we are focusing on using data and approaches in Intriguing History already to explore and develop how History and Timelines might help each of us with our individual projects and explore whether we can find a better way to create and update them, at least for the kind of purposes we might want to use them for, in giving context to otherwise isolated facts, events and people.  (Very much a working draft here in concept as well as the text itself. it is as much a note to oursleves to get moving as it is a statement of what the next phase of development will be about.

Articles to follow but we will keep you posted on thoughts about how we might aim to take this forward over the coming months and onwards into 2015.
